The bronchioles are the part of the lungs that tend to seize up in conditions such as asthma and COPD. They don’t have supporting cartilage in them, so when the smooth muscle contracts due to irritants or other external factors, it’s able to significantly narrow the airway, and the ability of oxygen to get to the alveoli.

Both short-acting and long-acting bronchodilators act on the bronchioles.

God is just too awesome. The human body is just so intricate, detailed. Amazing.
